Hoisting the sail

Independent product studio

We build our own
apps.

Viking Media & Software designs, builds, publishes and runs its own software. No client work, no billable hours — our products are funded by the people who actually use them.

What we make

Three kinds of product,
all of them ours.

We're not an agency and we don't take briefs. We pick the problems ourselves, build the software, publish it under our own name and keep improving it for as long as people use it.

Mobile apps

Tools and utilities we publish under our own name, on our own developer accounts — so the roadmap answers to the people using them.

  • Free, one-time purchase, or subscription
  • Billing handled by the platform, never by us
  • Kept current with each new OS release

Mobile games

Original titles we design, build and operate ourselves — from the first prototype through to live updates long after launch.

  • Our own characters, worlds and mechanics
  • Paid, free-to-play or subscription
  • Events and content added over time

Shopify apps

Plugins built to solve a specific, real problem for merchants rather than to occupy a category.

  • Billed through Shopify, on the merchant's usual invoice
  • Trials, so a store can evaluate before committing
  • Support answered by the people who wrote it
Our products

Everything we've
put out there.

Each of these is ours end to end — we own the code, the brand and the roadmap.

More on the way

We're a small studio and we'd rather ship one thing properly than five things loudly. When the next product is ready, it will appear here.

The company

Small, independent,
in it for the long haul.

We'd rather own a handful of products outright than rent our time by the hour. That shapes every decision we make.

01

We own what we build

Every product is our own IP — code, brand and roadmap. Nothing we ship belongs to someone else's backlog.

02

Users pay us, not advertisers

Revenue comes from purchases and subscriptions. That keeps our incentives pointed at the people using the software.

03

We ship, then keep shipping

Launch is the start. Our products get updates for as long as people rely on them, not just until the invoice clears.

04

A real person answers

Support goes to the people who wrote the code. No ticket queue, no outsourced first line.

For investors

A portfolio of products,
not a services pipeline.

We build software we own and sell it directly to the people who use it, through one-time purchases and recurring subscriptions. No client work, so no client concentration risk — and no revenue that disappears when one contract ends.

Recurring

Subscription revenue alongside one-time purchases

Owned IP

Every product is ours outright

Low overhead

Small team, no agency cost structure

We don't publish revenue or user numbers on a public page. If you'd like to talk, email us and we'll share current figures, roadmap and anything else you need under NDA. Investor enquiries are answered by us, not a fund-raising desk.

Questions

Things people ask us

No. We build and publish our own products, and that's all we do. We're not an agency, we don't take briefs and we don't quote for outside projects. If you're looking for a studio to build something for you, we're not the right fit — and we'd rather say so up front.

Email [email protected] and tell us which product you're using, what device you're on and what went wrong. The people who wrote the code read that inbox, so you won't be handed between departments.

It depends where you bought the product. Purchases and subscriptions for our mobile apps and games are handled by Apple or Google through your store account. Our Shopify apps are billed by Shopify and appear on your regular Shopify invoice. We never see or store your card details.

Cancel through whichever store you subscribed with — Apple, Google or Shopify — since that's where the subscription actually lives. Refunds follow that store's policy rather than ours. If something has gone wrong, email support anyway and we'll help you sort it out.

As little as possible. The specifics for each product are set out in our Privacy Policy, and the rules for using our software are in our Terms of Service.

We're happy to talk to investors who are interested in what we're building. Email [email protected] and we'll come back to you directly.

Send it to [email protected]. Press kits, review copies and partnership ideas all land in the same place and we read every one.
